Not to be confused with Pandemonium, due to its similar appearance.

Pipsqueak (Z-283-Pipsqueak) is a hostile monster in Pressure acting as one of the most common threats to the players in The Hunted expedition inside of the Hadal Blacksite.

Appearance[]

This creature named Pipsqueak appears as a grotesque, elongated face. With small, dimly lit eyes shrouded in darkness, its giant mouth opens into a gigantic maw, with human-like teeth and a human-like tongue. The shape of the mouth is reminiscent of a Sarcastic fringehead fish with its ruff open, making the mouth appear larger than it is.

Mechanics[]

Pipsqueak acts similarly to Pandemonium, in that it automatically locks onto the player and starts honing in on them once it spots them. Once a locker is entered, Pipsqueak will bang on the locker once, stay there for a second, and then rush away. Unlike Pandemonium, Pipsqueak does not initiate a minigame, rather it will bash itself against the locker and disappear.

Pipsqueak does not flicker the lights, due to a lack of lights in The Hunted. Your only indication of Pipsqueak coming is The Crooked entering a locker, or a slight faint rumbling sound, but this will require excellent hearing from the player. A red border will fade in too, but this will only be visible around 3-5 seconds before it enters the room you are in.

Pipsqueak can spawn in The Vault area after you have collected at least 10 fragments now that the hunt is over.

Strategy[]

The best way to avoid Pipsqueak is to immediately search for a nearby locker as soon as The Crooked enters one. Once The Crooked has entered a locker of his own, this means that Pipsqueak is on its way, meaning you need to hide as soon as possible.

You can also enable deaf mode and when a large blue noise indicator appears, rush into a locker.

Alternatively, the player can avoid Pipsqueak by getting completely out of sight, leaving no part of them uncovered. If done correctly, Pipsqueak will not see the player and will also make very little sound as it passes, since it will only scream if it knows where the player is. If the player is not hidden well enough, Pipsqueak will see the player and scream as they go to kill them.

Trivia[]

  • Pipsqueak was the only hostile monster added to the game since The Hunt: Mega Edition which took place from 13th March 2025 to 24th March 2025, along with two other monsters, The Crooked and Rebarb.
  • Pipsqueak could be based on the Sarcastic Fringehead or Gulper/Pelican Eel, like how Angler and its variants are based on other sea creatures.
  • Pipsqueak shares the same jumpscare sound as Froger.
  • Zeal has confirmed that Pipsqueak is an Angler Variant and that lore is outdated now.
  • Pipsqueaks spawn relies on The Crooked hiding in a locker and if The Crooked cannot hide as it is frozen from a bug Pipsqueak simply won't spawn
    • However, there are times where The Crooked stops pursuing players due to a bug while still allowing Pipsqueak to spawn. In this case, the player must pay very close attention to the audio, as Pipsqueak's far ambience is subtle.
  • Some people call Pipsqueak "Pandemonium 2.0" since it behaves just like Pandemonium, except for the fact that it doesn't trigger the minigame.
  • Pipsqueak, when on deaf mode, shares the same red overlay/fog as Pandemonium, making it a redesigned Pandemonium which doesn't have the minigame.
  • Pipsqueak has a resemblance to Froger and Pandemonium, with its appearance taking elements from both the wide mouth from Froger and the fleshiness of it from Pandemonium.
  • It is possible to die to Pipsqueak while in a vent, and unlike Pandemonium, which cannot kill you in a vent.
  • Pipsqueak gets it's name from it being the smallest Angler variant.
  • According to Zeal, Pipsqueak (along with possibly The Crooked and Rebarb) might get added in the main game. As Pipsqueak might be a rare Angler Variant.
